Sarah Otto Zavel is a French-Swiss visual artist working across film, installation, video, sound, sculpture, performance, and socially engaged practices. Her work explores relationships among humans, the transmission of memory, and collective processes of repair, often through collaborative and research-based approaches that engage with social contexts beyond institutional spaces.
Her work has been presented at Faculté de Médecine with MO.CO., Montpellier (2025), Vitrine d’Art-Cade, Marseille (2025), Musée Fabre, Montpellier (2024), Foley Gallery, New York (2023), Galerie du MO.CO. Esba, Montpellier (2023), 11Ephémère, Lille (2022), Cour Mably, Bordeaux (2021), Dos Mares, Marseille (2021), Galerie G, La Garde (2021), Nuits Photographiques, Essaouira (2019), and Castillo de los Jardines de la Tropical, Havana (2018). Her film FERIK received the Jury Prize at Festival Grands Espaces, Grenoble (2022) and the Audience Prize at FestifIS, Nikki, Benin (2022).
She develops workshops and collaborative projects with inhabitants, children, adults, and community organizations, and has co-curated exhibitions. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Sciences Po Paris and graduated a Fine Arts Master’s degree with high honors from MO.CO. Esba.
